- Representative Berman moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 3, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 16 before the committee: SB 16 (Sen. Zorn) A bill to amend 1917 PA 167, entitled "Housing law of Michigan," by amending section 125 (MCL 125.525), as amended by 2016 PA 14. Shane Preston, representing Senator Zorn, testified in support of SB 16. Wendy Patton, representing the Rental Property Owners Association, testified in support of SB 16. The following person submitted a card in support of SB 16, but did not wish to speak: Clay Powell, representing the Rental Property Owners Association of Michigan. The Chair laid SB 17 before the committee: SB 17 (Sen. Zorn) A bill to amend 1968 PA 317, entitled "An act relating to the conduct of public servants in respect to governmental decisions and contracts with public entities; to provide penalties for the violation of this act; to repeal certain acts and parts of acts; and to validate certain contracts," by amending section 3a (MCL 15.323a), as amended by 2011 PA 106. Shane Preston, representing Senator Zorn, testified in support of SB 17. Questions and discussion followed. The following person submitted a card in support of SB 17, but did not wish to speak: Judy Allen, representing the Michigan Townships Association. The following person submitted a card in opposition to SB 17, but did not wish to speak: Peter Wills, representing the City of Muskegon.
