- Representative Posthumus moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 3, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. At 10:38 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 10:39 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. The Chair laid HB 4031 before the committee: HB 4031 (Rep. Kahle) A bill to amend 1974 PA 154, entitled "Michigan occupational safety and health act," by amending section 35 (MCL 408.1035), as amended by 1991 PA 105. Representative Kahle, joined by Zell Eisenmann and Barb Eisenmann, all testified in support of HB 4031. Questions and discussion followed. Noel Eisenmann testified in support of HB 4031. Andrew Beardslee, representing the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, joined by Director Bart Pickelman and Dawn Jack, both representing the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration, testified in opposition to HB 4031. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card wishing to speak in opposition to HB 4031, but due to the time constraints were unable to speak: Eva Alvarez, representing the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center. The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 4031, but did not wish to speak: Bill Flory, representing the Michigan Association for Justice. Alex Rossman, representing the Michigan League for Public Policy. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Julie Alexander adjourned the meeting at 11:39 AM.
