Representative LaFave moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 18, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid before the committee a presentation by Sean Hammond and Tom Zimnicki from the Michigan Environmental Council. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair laid HB 4123 before the committee: HB 4123 (Rep. Griffin) A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled "Natural resources and environmental protection act," by amending sections 5301, 5403, and 5405 (MCL 324.5301, 324.5403, and 324.5405), section 5301 as amended by 2012 PA 560 and sections 5403 and 5405 as added by 1997 PA 26. Representative Griffin and Andrea Cascarilla, from Accuitas, testified in support of HB 4123. Questions and discussion followed. Travis Boeskool and Paul McDonald, representing the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, testified in support of HB 4123. Questions and discussion followed. Mandy Sheposh, representing Johnson Controls, testified in support of HB 4123. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4123, but did not wish to speak: Tom Fraizer, representing the Michigan Townships Association.
