At 10:30 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 10:35 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. The House Oversight Committee was meeting jointly with the Senate Oversight Committee. The Chair laid before the committee a report from the Office of the Auditor General on nursing home deaths related to COVID-19. The Chair gave remarks on the report. The Chair invited Doug Ringler, Michigan's Auditor General, Laura Hirst, Michigan's Deputy Auditor General, and Brittney Simon, Senior Audit Supervisor, to give a presentation on the Auditor General's report. Questions and discussion followed. The chair invited Elizabeth Hertel, Director of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, to respond to the Auditor General's report. Questions and discussion followed. At 11:59 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 12:03 PM, the Chair called the committee back to order. Elizabeth Hertel, Director of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, returned to continue responding to the Auditor General's report. Questions and discussion followed. Doug Ringler, Michigan's Auditor General, Laura Hirst, Michigan's Deputy Auditor General, and Brittney Simon, Senior Audit Supervisor returned to continue the discussion on the report. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Steven Johnson adjourned the meeting at 1:25 PM.
