- Representative Cavitt moved to adopt the amendment to HB 5509. The motion did not prevail 12-17-0: UNFAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Lightner, Bollin, Green, Slagh, Beson, Borton, Fink, Cavitt, DeBoer, Kuhn, Schuette, Steele. Nays: Reps. Witwer, O'Neal, Brixie, Hood, Brabec, Morse, Puri, Steckloff, Weiss, Martus, McKinney, Mentzer, Morgan, Price, Skaggs, Snyder, Wilson. Pass: None. Representative Slagh offered the following amendment to HB 5509: 1. Amend page 25, line 11, by striking out all of subsection (1) of section 410 and inserting: "(1) The MVAA shall provide claims processing services to Michigan veterans in support of benefit claims submitted to the USDVA for the health, financial, and memorial benefits for which they are eligible, and shall report annually on the number of benefit claims, by type, submitted to the USDVA by MVAA and maintain the staffing and resources necessary to process a minimum of 500 claims per year.".
