The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 876 (S-1) (Sen. Schmidt) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported SB 877 (S-1) (Sen. Schmidt) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported SB 878 (S-1) (Sen. Schmidt) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:30 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Outman, Lauwers, Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Outman to adopt the meeting minutes from March 4, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair summarized SB 876, SB 877, and SB 878. The Chair offered, and summarized, (S-1) versions of SB 876, SB 877, and SB 878. The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 876, SB 877, and SB 878: Adam Reames, Michigan Secretary of State – Neutral The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 876: Michigan Propane Gas Association – Support Michigan Sugar Company – Support Page 1 of 3 Michigan Dairy Food Association – Support Construction Association of Michigan – Support Michigan Association of Timbermen – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Outman to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 876. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Outman, and Lauwers Nays: Sen.(s) Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Outman to report the (S-1) version of SB 876 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Outman, and Lauwers Nays: Sen.(s) Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 876 (S-1). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Lauwers to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 877. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 877 (S-1). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Victory to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 878. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Barrett, Sen.(s) LaSata, McBroom, Victory, Outman, and Lauwers Nays: Sen.(s) Geiss, Bullock, and Hollier The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Victory to report the (S-1) version of SB 878 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 878 (S-1). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
