BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7708 FAX: (517) 373-1450 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES September 7, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Energy and Technology was scheduled for Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 12:00 noon, in the Senate Hearing Room, Ground Floor, Boji Tower. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 1106 (Sen. VanderWall) and SB 1107 (Sen. Daley). The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:01 p.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Lauwers, Sen.(s) Horn, Barrett, Bumstead, Bizon, Schmidt, Wozniak, McCann, Brinks, McMorrow and Bullock, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to adopt the meeting minutes from June 30, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Horn to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 1106. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Lauwers, Sen.(s) Horn, Bumstead, Bizon, Schmidt, Wozniak, McCann, Brinks, McMorrow, and Bullock. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. At 12:05 p.m. Senator Barrett entered the meeting. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 1106(S-1) and SB 1107: Brian VanBlarcum, Consumers Energy – Support Sarah Hutton, DTE Energy – Support Amanda Stallings, National Grid Renewables – Support Aaron Keel and Heather Frick, Michigan Department of Treasury – Support Judy Allen, Michigan Townships Association – Neutral Page 1 of 2 The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 1106(S- 1) and SB 1107: Adam Sokoslki, EDF Renewables – Support Deena Bosworth, Michigan Assoc. of Counties – Neutral Emily Smith, Michigan Environmental Council – Support Erick Stoker, AES – Support Amanda Tomich, MI Assessors' Association – Support Jim Murray, Coalition for Community Solar Access – Support Ed Rivet, MI Conservative Energy Forum – Support Brad Williams, Detroit Regional Chamber – Support Nick Occhipinti, Michigan League of Conservation Voters – Support Laura Sherman, Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council – Support Michael Alaimo, MI Chamber of Commerce – Support Susan Schlaybauch, Michigan Electric Cooperative Association – Support Tim Minotas, MI Chapter - Sierra Club – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Barrett to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen.(s) LaSata and Nesbitt were excused from the meeting. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
