CALLEY CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, October 5, 2022 12:00 PM Room 521, House Office Building The House Committee on Local Government and Municipal Finance was called to order by Chair Calley. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Calley, Bezotte, Howell, Alexander, Bellino, Paquette, Slagh, Mekoski, Ellison, Sowerby, Garza, Kuppa, Cavanagh. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representatives Bezotte, Howell, Alexander, Bellino, Paquette, Slagh, Mekoski, Ellison, Garza, Kuppa and Cavanagh joined the committee remotely. The Chair laid HB 5697 before the committee: HB 5697 (Rep. Calley) A bill to amend 1973 PA 186, entitled "Tax tribunal act," by amending section 46 (MCL 205.746). Zach Barton, from Representative Calley's office, Mike Johnson, representing the Michigan Manufacturers Association, and Dan Stanley, from Honigman LLP, testified in support of HB 5697. Questions and discussion followed. Judy Allen, representing the Michigan Townships Associations, testified regarding her concerns about HB 5697. Questions and discussion followed. Jen Rigterink, representing the Michigan Municipal League, and Scott Smith, representing the City of Wyoming, testified with no official position on HB 5697. Emily D'Agostini Kunnath, representing the International Council of Shopping Centers, testified in support of HB 5697. Gregory Erne, representing the International Council of Shopping Centers, testified in support of HB 5697. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 5697, but did not wish to speak: Brad Ward, representing the Michigan Realtors. Leah Robinson, representing the Michigan Chamber.
