BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-2523 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 12, 2025 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Economic and Community Development was scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 9:15 a.m. in Room 1100 of the Binsfeld Office Building The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Adopted 2025-2026 Committee Rules. 2. Reported SB 27 (Sen. Klinefelt). The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:18 a.m.. The Chair instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Moss, Geiss, Victory, Lindsey and Webber, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Cavanagh to adopt the 2025-2026 Senate Committee on Economic and Community Development Committee Rules. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Moss, Geiss, Victory, and Webber Nays: Sen.(s) Lindsey The motion prevailed and the 2025-2026 Committee Rules were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB27: Em Lefko, Office of Sen. Klinefelt – Support Jasmin McKenney, East MI Apex Accelerator Program – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB27: Danielle McCann, MEDC - Support The Chair entertained a motion by Senator Geiss to report SB27 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair McMorrow, Sen.(s) Cavanagh, Polehanki, Moss, Geiss, Victory, Lindsey and Webber Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair made a motion to adjourn the committee at 9:24 a.m. Without objection, the committee was adjourned. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 8 (Sen. Hertel) 2. Reported SB 15 (S-1) (Sen. Singh) with recommendations. The Chair called the meeting to order at 10:24 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll.
