- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION REP. PAMELA HORNBERGER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, February 2, 2021 12:00 PM Senate Hearing Room, Ground Floor, Boji Tower The House Committee on Education was meeting jointly with the Senate Committee on Education and Career Readiness. The House Committee on Education was called to order by Chair Hornberger. The Clerk read in a letter from House Speaker Wentworth appointing members to the House Education Committee. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Hornberger, Paquette, Green, Markkanen, O'Malley, Beeler, Damoose, Posthumus, Camilleri, Brenda Carter, Koleszar, Shannon, Stone. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Paquette motioned to adopt Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. in Room 521 of the House Office Building as the normal day, time, and location for meetings of the House Education Committee. The motion prevailed 11-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Hornberger, Paquette, Green, Markkanen, O'Malley, Beeler, Damoose, Camilleri, Brenda Carter, Shannon, Stone. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair stated that the Committee on Education will follow the committee rules, as prescribed in Chapter IV of the House Rules. Senator Theis made a statement to the committee. Senator Theis laid the following before the committee: Presentation by the Michigan Department of Education: Return to Learn Implementation Dr. Rice, representing the Michigan Department of Education, testified to the committee. Questions and discussion followed. There being no further business before the committee, Rep. Pamela Hornberger adjourned the meeting at 1:11 PM.
