JACK O'MALLEY CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, March 2, 2021 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Transportation was called to order by Chair O'Malley. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Howell, Griffin, LaFave, Berman, Carra, Roth, Sneller, Shannon, Liberati, Puri. Absent: Rep. Clemente. Excused: Rep. Clemente. Representative Carra moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 23, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4026 and HB 4117 before the committee: HB 4026 (Rep. Eisen) A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," by amending section 805 (MCL 257.805), as amended by 2013 PA 82. HB 4117 (Rep. Steven Johnson) A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," by amending section 226 (MCL 257.226), as amended by 2020 PA 304. Representative Roth moved to report out HB 4026 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 12-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Howell, Griffin, LaFave, Berman, Carra, Roth, Sneller, Shannon, Liberati, Puri. Nays: None. Pass: None. At 10:33 AM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 10:34 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. Representative Griffin moved to report out HB 4117 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 12-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4026 and HB 4117, but did not wish to speak: Matt Levin, representing the Michigan Department of State. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4117, but did not wish to speak: Andrew Vermeesch, representing the Michigan Farm Bureau. The Chair laid the presentation from the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority before the committee. Executive Director Kyle Burleson, representing the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority, provided a presentation on the Port of Detroit. The Chair laid the presentation from the Lake Carriers' Association before the committee. Mark Barker, representing the Lake Carriers' Association, provided a presentation on marine transportation in the Great Lakes Region. Questions and discussion followed. Representative Sneller moved to excuse Representative Clemente from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
