- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON OVERSIGHT REP. STEVEN JOHNSON CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Thursday, March 18, 2021 10:30 AM Room 326, House Office Building The House Committee on Oversight was called to order by Majority Vice Chair Outman. The Majority Vice Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Steven Johnson, Outman, Hoitenga, Reilly, O'Malley, Wozniak, Brixie, LaGrand, Young. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Wozniak moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 11, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Majority Vice Chair laid HB 4448 before the committee: HB 4448 (Rep. Steven Johnson) A bill to amend 1976 PA 390, entitled "Emergency management act," by amending section 3 (MCL 30.403), as amended by 2002 PA 132. Chairman Johnson testified in support of HB 4448. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4448, but did not wish to speak: Tony Daunt, representing the Michigan Freedom Fund. The Majority Vice Chair laid HB 4257 before the committee: HB 4257 (Rep. Steven Johnson) A bill to clarify certain powers of the governor; and to impose certain duties on certain state officials. Chairman Johnson testified in support of HB 4257. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of HB 4257, but did not wish to speak: Tony Daunt, representing the Michigan Freedom Fund. At 10:44 AM, the Majority Vice Chair Outman laid the committee at ease. At 10:45 AM, the Chair called the committee back to order. The gavel was returned to Chair Johnson. The Chair laid the following before the committee: Testimony from Michigan residents who are having issues with unemployment. Colby Bettis, owner of Two Hats Ranch spoke to the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Ilona Boilore spoke to the committee. Questions and discussion followed. Chair Johnson made comments to the committee.
