GRAHAM FILLER CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, June 8, 2021 9:00 AM Room 519, House Office Building The House Committee on Judiciary was called to order by Chair Filler. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. Filler, Mueller, Steven Johnson, Kahle, Rendon, Berman, Wozniak, Clements, LaGrand, Yancey, Bolden, Hope, Breen. Absent: None. Excused: None. Representative Berman joined the committee remotely. Representative Mueller moved to adopt the meeting minutes from May 25, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. Representative Mueller moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 1, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4051 before the committee: HB 4051 (Rep. Hoitenga) A bill to amend 1994 PA 350, entitled "Public employee retirement benefits forfeiture act," by amending sections 2 and 3 (MCL 38.2702 and 38.2703), as amended by 2017 PA 43. Representative Hoitenga, testified in support of HB 4051. Questions and discussion followed. Jamie and Nicole Mullin, representing themselves, testified in support of HB 4051. Stacey Allman, representing herself, testified in support of HB 4051. Shelli Weisberg, representing the ACLU of Michigan, testified in opposition to HB 4051. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in opposition to HB 4051, but did not wish to speak: Jennifer Smith, representing the Michigan Association of School Boards. Posthumus) A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled "Michigan election law," by amending sections 31, 683, and 730 (MCL 168.31, 168.683, and 168.730), section 31 as amended by 2012 PA 271, section 683 as amended by 2018 PA 120, and section 730 as amended by 1995 PA 261, and by adding section 730a. Substitute (H-2) to HB 4528 was previously adopted on April 27, 2021. Representative Mueller moved to adopt substitute (H-3) to HB 4528. The motion prevailed 12-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Filler, Mueller, Steven Johnson, Kahle, Rendon, Wozniak, Clements, LaGrand, Yancey, Bolden, Hope, Breen. Nays: None. Pass: None.
