JACK O'MALLEY CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Tuesday, June 11, 2019 10:30 AM Room 327, House Office Building The House Standing Committee on Transportation was called to order by the Chair O'Malley. The Chair requested attendance be called: Present: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Cole, Sheppard, Alexander, Bellino, Howell, Afendoulis, Sneller, Clemente, Yancey, Haadsma, Shannon. Absent/Excused: None. Representative Sheppard moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 4, 2019. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4570 before the committee: HB 4570 (Rep. Sneller) A bill to amend 2001 PA 142, entitled "Michigan memorial highway act," by amending section 32 (MCL 250.1032). Representative Sneller testified in support of HB 4570. Representative Bellino moved to refer House Bill No. 4570 to the committee on Ways and Means. The motion prevailed 13-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. O'Malley, Eisen, Cole, Sheppard, Alexander, Bellino, Howell, Afendoulis, Sneller, Clemente, Yancey, Haadsma, Shannon. Nays: None. David Raney, representing Senator Daley’s office, joined by Jeanne Cathcart, mother of Sergeant Michael Cathcart, both testified in support of the bill. Representative Lightner, joined by Sergeant Paul Long and Brenda Gibson, testified in support of the bill. Representative Cole moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to HB 4572.
