BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1725 FAX: (517) 373-0741 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 21, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy and Human Services was scheduled for Thursday, February 21, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Presentation by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services regarding Certificates of Need. 2. Presentation by Ascension Michigan regarding Certificates of Need. 3. Presentation by Kelley Cawthorne regarding Certificates of Need. The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from February 14, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Beth Nagel, of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, to give a presentation regarding Certificates of Need. At 1:05 p.m., Sen. Hertel entered the meeting. At 1:08 p.m., Sen. LaSata entered the meeting. The Chair invited Sean Gehle, of Ascension Michigan, to provide testimony regarding Certificates of Need. The Chair invited Carrie Linderoth Romel, of Kelley Cawthorne, to give a presentation regarding Certificates of Need.
