BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX (517) 373-3921 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 12, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SJR E (Sen. McBroom). The Chairman called the meeting to order at 2:01 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman McBroom, Sen.(s) Lucido, Theis, MacDonald, and Irwin, a quorum was present. At 2:02 p.m., the Chairman called for the committee to go at-ease. At 2:02 p.m., the Vice Chairman reconvened the committee. The Vice Chairman invited Sen. McBroom and Sen. Moss to testify on SJR E. Questions from members followed. At 2:13 p.m., the Vice Chairman called for the committee to go at-ease. At 2:13 p.m., the Chairman reconvened the committee. The Chairman invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SJR E:  Dan Hurley, Michigan Association of State Universities – No Position. Questions from members followed.  Lisa McGraw, Michigan Press Association – Support The Chairman read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SJR E:  Merissa Kovach, American Civil Liberties Union – Support  Mike Reitz, Michigan Coalition For Open Government – Support  David Guenthner, Mackinac Center – Support  Tony Daunt, Michigan Freedom Fund - Support The Chairman acknowledged written testimony in support of SJR E submitted by Herschel P. Fink, Detroit Free Press Legal Counsel. There being no further business before the committee, the Chairman moved to adjourn the meeting.
