BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 20, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources was scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follow: 1. Testimony regarding natural resources based industries. The Chairman called the meeting to order at 8:34 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman McBroom, Sen.(s) Bumstead, Outman, and McCann, a quorum was present. The Chairman invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Bumstead to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Schmidt was excused from the meeting. The Chairman invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding natural resources-based industries; questions from members followed. Matt Johnson, Eagle Mine. Questions from members followed. Randy Keen, Arauco and Michigan Forest Products Council; Todd Johnson, Weyerhaeuser and Michigan Forest Products Council and Jim Maeder, Michigan Association of Timbermen testified together. Questions from members followed. Amber Peterson and Dana Seferin, Michigan Commercial Fishing Industry testified together. Questions from members followed. Erin McDonough, Michigan Oil and Gas Association. Questions from members followed. Patrick Bloom, Cleveland Cliffs. Andrew Vermeesch, Michigan Farm Bureau. There being no further business before the committee, Sen. Bumstead moved to adjourn the committee. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 9:48 a.m. Date Adopted by Committee: 04/24/2019
