BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1725 FAX: (517) 373-0741 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 11, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy and Human Services was scheduled for Thursday, April 11, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 228 (Sen. Runestad). The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:01 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from March 14, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited Sen. Runestad to summarize SB 228. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 228: Corbin Standley, Citizen – Support Chief Greg Flynn, Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 228: Sam Champagne, Henry Ford Health System – Support Steve James, SEIU Michigan State Council – Support Jeff Spitzley, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Legislative Affairs – Support Byron Osborn, Michigan Corrections Organization – Support Dan Jarvis, Michigan Family Forum – Support Jared Burkhart, Michigan Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics – Support Page 1 of 2 Justin Fisher, Michigan Psychiatric Society – Support Adam Carlson, Michigan Health and Hospital Association – Support Renee Edmondson, School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan – Support Stephanie Johnson, Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police – Support Michigan Fraternal Order of Police – Support Michigan Psychological Association – Support Gabe Basso, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan – Support Rebecca Mastee, Michigan Catholic Conference – Support There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
