BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7840 FAX: (517) 373-3932 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 10, 2020 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Oversight was scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding Office of the Auditor General Follow-Up Report on Prior Audit Recommendations: Claimant Services, Unemployment Insurance Agency, Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, February 2020, #641-0318-14F. The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:03 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair McBroom, Sen.(s) Lucido, Theis, MacDonald and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair brought up Office of the Auditor General Follow-Up Report on Prior Audit Recommendations, Claimant Services, Unemployment Insurance Agency, Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, February 2020, #641-0318-14F. The Chair invited Mary Jo Koschay, Audit Division Administrator, and Rod Wlock, Assistant Auditor General, to present testimony regarding the Follow-Up Report on Prior Audit Recommendations, Claimant Services, Unemployment Insurance Agency, Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity on behalf of the Office of the Auditor General. Member questions followed. The Chair invited Director Steve Gray and Stephanie Glidden of the Unemployment Insurance Agency to present testimony regarding the same Auditor General's report. Member questions followed. Additional information provided by Virginia Abdo of the Unemployment Insurance Agency and Theresa Burns, Administrative Law Specialist for the Unemployment Insurance Agency. Members requested additional information be provided to the committee through the Chairman's office. The Chair invited Rachael Kohl, Director of the Workers' Rights Clinic, University of Michigan Law School; Scott Henry, Policy and Information Student, University of Michigan; Dillon Roseen, Student Attorney in the Workers' Rights Clinic, University of Michigan Law School and Brian Russell, a claimant, to provide testimony to the committee regarding the Auditor General's Report of UIA Compliance. Member questions followed. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Irwin to adopt the meeting minutes from March 3, 2020. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Irwin to adjourn the meeting.
