BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-1725 FAX: (517) 373-0741 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 4, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy and Human Services was scheduled for Thursday, February 4, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., in the Senate Hearing Room of the Boji Tower. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Adopted the Committee Rules. 2. Testimony regarding SB 18 (Sen. Zorn). The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:06 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the committee rules. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Santana, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the rules were adopted. The Chair invited Shane Preston, of Sen. Zorn's office, to summarize SB 18. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 18: Jena Colon, APTA-MI Legislative Chair – Support TJ Cantwell, The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 18: Sam Champagne, Henry Ford Health System – Support Michigan Health and Hospital Association – Support Rich Farran, Health Care Association of Michigan – Support Derek Sova, Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs – Oppose The Chair made a motion to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Hertel was excused from the meeting. Page 1 of 2 There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
