BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-6920 FAX: (517) 373-2751 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 10, 2022 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety was scheduled for Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding HB 4562 (Rep. Lightner). 2. Testimony regarding HB 4563 (Rep. Witwer). The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:32 a.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Barrett, Johnson, Runestad, Wozniak, Chang and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from January 27, 2022. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up HB 4562 and HB 4563 and invited Rep.(s) Lightner and Witwer to summarize the bills. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding HB 4562 and HB 4563: Doug Lloyd, Eaton County Prosecuting Attorney – Support Randy Gilbert, Citizen – Support Kyle Kaminski, Michigan Department of Corrections - Support At 9:04 a.m., Chair Victory left the meeting. Member questions and testimony continued. There being no further business before the committee, Vice Chair VanderWall moved to adjourn the committee.
