The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. Schuette, Aragona, Wendzel, Martin, Posthumus, DeBoer, Witwer, Liberati and Herzberg. Absent: None. Excused: None. The Chair laid HB 4151 before the committee: Representative Martin testified in support of HB 4151. Representative Aragona moved to report out HB 4151 with recommendation. The motion prevailed 9-0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Schuette, Aragona, Wendzel, Martin, Posthumus, DeBoer, Witwer, Liberati and Herzberg. Nays: None. Pass: None. The Chair laid HB 4153 before the committee: Thursday, March 6, 2025 10:30 AM Room 519, House Office Building HB 4151 (Rep. Martin) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," by amending section 1531 (MCL 380.1531), as amended by 2023 PA 110. HB 4153 (Rep. DeBoer) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," by amending sections 501, 521, 551, 1231, 1233, 1311b, 1526, 1535a, and 1809 (MCL 380.501, 380.521, 380.551, 380.1231, 380.1233, 380.1311b, Representative DeBoer explained the proposed substitute (H-1) for HB 4153. Representative Posthumus moved to adopt substitute (H-1) to HB 4153. The motion prevailed 9- 0-0: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Schuette, Aragona, Wendzel, Martin, Posthumus, DeBoer, Witwer, Liberati and Herzberg. Nays: None. Pass: None. The following person submitted a card in opposition to HB 4153, but did not wish to speak: Meghann Keit, representing the Michigan Association of State Universities. Representative DeBoer moved to report out HB 4153 with recommendation, as substitute (H-1). The motion prevailed 6-0-3: FAVORABLE ROLL CALL Yeas: Reps. Schuette, Aragona, Wendzel, Martin, Posthumus and DeBoer. Nays: None. Pass: Reps. Witwer, Liberati and Herzberg. Representative Aragona moved to adopt the meeting minutes from February 20, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Schuette adjourned the meeting at 10:40 AM.
