BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7888 FAX: (517) 373-2983 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES March 16, 2023 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Regulatory Affairs was scheduled for Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB 141 (Sen. McMorrow) with recommendation. 2. Reported SB 87 ( Moss) with recommendation and immediate effect. The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:28 a.m. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Wojno to adopt the meeting minutes from March 9, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, McCann, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck and Webber, a quorum was present. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 141: John Lauve, Alcohol Prevention, MAP – Opposition The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 141: Joe Bellino, State Senator, 16 District – Support Matt Sowash, DISCUS, DISCUS – Support Leah Robinson, MI Chamber of Commerce, MI Chamber of Commerce – Support Mason Doerr, MLBA, MLBA – Support The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 87: Joe Bellino, State Senator, 16th District – Support The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Polehanki to report SB 141 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, McCann, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck, and Webber. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. Page 1 of 2 The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Hauck to report SB 87 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Moss, Sen.(s) Polehanki, McCann, Wojno, Santana, Hertel, Hauck, and Webber. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chair made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 87. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
