BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-7350 FAX: (517) 373-9228 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 6, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Education was scheduled for Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 567 (Sen. Irwin) and SB 568 (Sen. Polehanki). The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:01 p.m.. She instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Polehanki, Sen.(s) Geiss, Chang, Camilleri, McDonald Rivet, Damoose and Johnson, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to adopt the meeting minutes from October 31, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 567. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Polehanki, Sen.(s) Geiss, Chang, Camilleri, McDonald Rivet, and Damoose. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. Geiss to adopt the (S-1) version of SB 568. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chair Polehanki, Sen.(s) Geiss, Chang, Camilleri, McDonald Rivet, and Damoose. Nays: None The motion prevailed and the (S-1) was adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 567 and SB 568: Sen. Jeff Irwin – Support Sen.
