BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-0142 FAX: (517) 373-3938 COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES February 15, 2024 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Labor was scheduled for Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., in the 1300 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Testimony regarding SB 571 (Sen. Cherry). The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m.. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Cherry, Sen.(s) Camilleri, Cavanagh and Albert, a quorum was present. The Chair made a motion to adopt the meeting minutes from November 2, 2023. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB 571: Aaron Pangborn and Todd Tennis, IBEW State Conference – Support Michael LaFaive, Mackinac Center for Public Policy – Opposition The Chair read the cards of those individuals not wishing to testify before the committee regarding SB 571: Eli Isagurri, Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights – Support Jeremy Garza, Michigan Pipe Trades – Support Laura Sherman, Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council – Opposition Steve Claywell, Michigan Building Trades – Support Shane Hernandez, ABC of Michigan – Opposition Jacob Manning, Small Business Association of Michigan – Opposition Sonny Koch, Americans for Prosperity Michigan – Opposition Sarah Anderson, Michigan Freedom Fund – Opposition Amanda Fisher, NFIB – Opposition There being no further business before the committee, the Chair moved to adjourn the committee.
