BOX 30036 LANSING, MICHIGAN 48909-7536 PHONE: (517) 373-6920 FAX: (517) 373-2751 **DRAFT** COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES June 15, 2021 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety was scheduled for Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at 8:30 a.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Office Building. The agenda summary is as follow: 1. Testimony regarding SB 473 (Sen. Victory). 2. Testimony regarding SB 474 (Sen. Moss). 3. Testimony regarding SB 475 (Sen. Horn). 4. Testimony regarding SB 476 (Sen. Ananich). 5. Testimony regarding SB 477 (Sen. Hollier). 6. Testimony regarding SB 478 (Sen. Runestad). 7. Testimony regarding SB 479 (Sen. Geiss). 8. Testimony regarding SB 480 (Sen. Johnson). 9. Testimony regarding SB 481 (Sen. Chang). 10. Testimony regarding SB 482 (Sen. Irwin). 11. Testimony regarding SB 483 (Sen. MacDonald). 12. Testimony regarding SB 484 (Sen. Bullock). 13. Testimony regarding SB 375 (Sen. Santana). The Chair called the meeting to order at 8:32 a.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chair Victory, Sen.(s) VanderWall, Johnson, Runestad, Chang and Irwin, a quorum was present. The Chair entertained a motion by Sen. VanderWall to adopt the meeting minutes from the June 10, 2021, 8:30 a.m. meeting and the June 10, 2021 3:30 p.m. meeting. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chair brought up SB's 473 – 484, SB 375, and made opening remarks to the committee. The Chair invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SB's 473-483 and SB 375: Tim Bourgeois, Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards – Neutral Dan Pfannes, Michigan Sheriffs Association - Oppose The cards were read of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding SB's 473-483 and SB 375: Akeem Pack, Service Employees International Union – Oppose SB 477 Ray Sholtz, Michigan Corrections Organization – Oppose SB 477 Elinor Jordan, Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence – Support SB's 474-485, 375 Prosecuting Attorneys Association Michigan – Support SB's 473-475, 479-484 Prosecuting Attorneys Association Michigan – No Position – SB's 476-478 Jeremy Tripp, Public Employees, Service Employees International Union Local 517M – Oppose SB 477 The Chair moved to excuse absent members from the meeting. Without objection, Sen. Barrett was excused from the meeting. The Chair moved to adjourn the committee. Without objection, the committee was adjourned at 9:49 a.m. Date adopted by committee:
