- HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON INSURANCE REP. MIKE HARRIS CHAIR COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES The House Committee on Insurance was called to order by Chair Harris. The Chair requested attendance to be called: Present: Reps. Harris, Tisdel, Lightner, Posthumus, Aragona, Neyer, Schuette, Brenda Carter, Tate and Fitzgerald. Absent: Rep. Whitsett. Excused: Rep. Whitsett. Representative Neyer moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 05, 2025. There being no objection, the motion prevailed with unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4207 and HB 4208 before the committee: At 12:03 PM, the Chair laid the committee at ease. At 12:04 PM, Majority Vice Chair Tisdel called the committee back to order. Representative Harris testified in support of HB 4207 and HB 4208. Representative Brenda Carter testified in support of HB 4207 and HB 4208. At 12:06 PM, Majority Vice Chair Tisdel laid the committee at ease. At 12:07 PM, the Chair called the committee back to order. Wednesday, March 19, 2025 Noon. Room 521, House Office Building HB 4207 (Rep. Harris) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 3701 (MCL 500.3701), as amended by 2016 PA 276. HB 4208 (Rep. Brenda Carter) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 608 (MCL 500.608), as added by 2016 PA 276. Karla Bell, representing the American Family Life Assurance Company, testified in support of HB 4207 and HB 4208. The following person submitted a card in support of HB 4207 and HB 4208, but did not wish to speak: Frank Venuto, representing the American Council of Life Insurers. The Chair laid HB 4179 before the committee: Chuck May, representing the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors - Michigan, testified in support of HB 4179. Aragona) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 2024a (MCL 500.2024a), as added by 1989 PA 68. HB 4071 (Rep. Brenda Carter) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 2025 (MCL 500.2025). Representative Brenda Carter moved to excuse Representative Whitsett from the meeting. There being no objection the motion prevailed by unanimous consent.
