The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported SB SB 597 (S-2) (Shirkey) to the floor with recommendation that it pass. 2. Reported SB SB 598 (S-2) (Sen. Bizon) to the floor with recommendation that it pass. At 1:30 p.m., the Chairman called the meeting to order He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present; Chairman Shirkey, Sen.(s) Lauwers, Nesbitt, Ananich and Chang a quorum was present. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Lauwers to adopt the committee meeting minutes from the September 21, 2021 meeting. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. Next, the Chairman introduced the (S-2) versions of SB 597 & SB 598 for the committee. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Ananich to adopt the (S-2) version of SB 597. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Shirkey, Sen.(s) Lauwers, Nesbitt, Ananich and Chang Nays: None The substitute was adopted. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Nesbitt to adopt the (S-2) version of SB 598. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Shirkey, Sen.(s) Lauwers, Nesbitt, Ananich, and Chang Nays: None The substitute was adopted. The Chairman read the cards of those people not wishing to present testimony regarding SB 597 and SB 598: Christine Shearer, Michigan Association of Health Plans, Support Tessa Smith, Aetna Better Health – Support Paul Tarr, Citizen – Support Nicole Felix, Meridian Health Plan – Support Dan Meier, Citizen – Oppose Scott Kempa, Michigan State Medical Society – Support The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Lauwers to report the SB 597 (S-2) to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman Shirkey, Sen.(s) Lauwers, and Nesbitt Nays: Sen. Chang Pass: Sen. Ananich The bill was reported. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Nesbitt to report the SB 598 (S-2) to the floor with recommendation that it pass.
