    following statement: “Mr. Speaker and members of the House: The language in HB 4254 & HB 4265 criminalizes non contact events, rather than battery. It also fails to define in statute mental distress creating overly broad potential for prosecution. While I support expanding protections for Elder and Vulnerable populations, I’m cautious of overly broad legislation.” Rep. Cole moved that House Bill No. 4255 be placed on its immediate passage. The motion prevailed, a majority of the members serving voting therefor. House Bill No. 4255, entitled A bill to amend 1974 PA 258, entitled “Mental health code,” by amending section 134a (MCL 330.1134a), as amended by 2014 PA 72.
