Context text: In The Chair: Moss The Senate agreed to the title of the bill. Senator Shink asked and was granted unanimous consent to make a statement and moved that the statement be printed in the Journal. The motion prevailed. Senator Shink’s statement is as follows: I rise today in support of Senate Bill No. 502, which clarifies Michigan’s anti-terror statute. It makes it clear that a person charged with making a terror threat is aware that the way they are communicating threatens violence on others. This small change in the law will have a big impact. In light of the horrific attack on Temple Israel last week, it is especially important that we have effective laws regarding terroristic threats to keep our communities safe, and this isn’t the only example. No student should ever feel unsafe in a school. No one should feel unsafe in their place of worship. We all have the right to feel safe and be safe from terroristic threats. Right now, this isn’t the case. Ensuring we have the tools to deal with threats appropriately will help us deal more effectively with terroristic threats and make our communities safer. The following bill was read a third time: Senate Bill No. 272, entitled A bill to amend 1978 PA 59, entitled “Condominium act,” by amending section 67 (MCL 559.167), as amended by 2016 PA 233.
