Rep. Bierlein, having reserved the right to explain his protest against the passage of the bill, made the following statement:
“Mr. Speaker and members of the House:
While I could vote no strictly on the process of voting on bills without being on the agenda, or having a substitute introduced that was just brought to our attention less than an hour before the vote, today, I am voting no because this bill does so little to help the majority of Michigan residents who will deal with the horrible disease that is Cancer. This bill will only effect 1% of the insured residents of Michigan, and that is not enough.”
