In The Chair: President
The Senate agreed to the title of the bill.
Senator Albert asked and was granted unanimous consent to make a statement and moved that the statement be printed in the Journal.
The motion prevailed.
Senator Albert’s statement is as follows:
This amendment is similar to one that I offered in this chamber before, designed to remind public employees of their rights under terms of a United States Supreme Court decision. It so happens that this week is the anniversary of the court’s Janus decision, which was issued on June 27th of 2018. In this decision, the Supreme Court determined public employees cannot be forced to join a union or pay union dues. This amendment would ensure that public employees are notified of their rights under this decision. It’s the least we can do in this legislative package that appears to benefit union leadership far more than schools or students. Thank you and I urge a “yes” vote on this amendment.
