   Pursuant to Joint Rule 20, the full title of the act shall be inserted to read as follows: “An act to establish the rights of victims of crime and juvenile offenses; to provide for certain procedures; to establish certain immunities and duties; to limit convicted criminals from deriving profit under certain circumstances; to prohibit certain conduct of employers or employers’ agents toward victims; and to provide for penalties and remedies,” The Senate agreed to the full title. Senator Lindsey asked and was granted unanimous consent to make a statement and moved that the statement be printed in the Journal. The motion prevailed. Senator Lindsey’s statement is as follows: I like the idea of this bill. It basically expands some of the misdemeanors that would help victims qualify for certain privileges under the law, but there is one of them that stands out compared to everything else. It’s this idea that certain government employees—if they’re threatened or feel threatened—are going to get a special victim status under this law. My amendment is striking simply that portion; the rest of it would be expanded as the original bill was written. I urge a “yes” vote.
