- obligations to public safety folks. Our officers at Corrections are part of that team, part of that public safety
team that keeps us safe, and we have to continue that pledge. We have a responsibility to make sure the
public stays and remains safe, and that the state employees who do that are well taken care of.
This is a good first step in getting us there. While it certainly is not without the risks of future Legislatures
being less than diligent in that responsibility, we have to hope that they will be and as they have been with
the State Police so far. I ask for a “yes” vote.
