    issued Executive Order No. 163 to establish the Black Leadership Advisory Council, largely based on that work. It, like the other cultural councils right now, is housed under the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, and all but one only exist by executive order. Senate Bill No. 840 would make the existence of the Black Leadership Advisory Council statutory, thus allowing them to continue their advisory work regardless of administrative or legislative changes in those offices. Today, let’s make an important step in Michigan history, and I urge your “yes” vote on Senate Bill No. 840. The following bill was read a third time: Senate Bill No. 1023, entitled A bill to amend 1976 PA 267, entitled “Open meetings act,” by amending section 8 (MCL 15.268), as amended by 2021 PA 166.
