“Mr. Speaker and members of the House:
I voted no on House Bill 4064 because, under this legislation, the Office of the State Employee
Ombudsman would fall under the authority of the Legislative Council, a partisan body whose members are
appointed by the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader. This partisan process will inevitably
politicize a system that should only be objective.”
