- I voted no because of the detrimental effect that alcohol has on our society. Currently, the State of Michigan
spends over 200 million dollars annually battling substance abuse. Likewise, we, as a state, are combatting
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. I do not see how expanding the hours a person can legally drink helps what the
State is currently doing to combat the negative effects of alcohol.”
