    following statement: “Mr. Speaker and members of the House: Opioids have had a devastating effect on all our communities. Unfortunately, our Attorney General negotiated a settlement that excludes small communities of less than 10,000 people from receiving direct assistance unless that community was part of the original suit. Our Attorney General is sending a clear message that the lives of people in small town USA do not matter as much as those who live in the suburbs and the big cities.” House Bill No. 5970, entitled A bill to prohibit the commencement of civil actions relating to opioids by certain governmental officers and entities.
