- Representative Wozniak moved to adopt the meeting minutes from June 8, 2021. There being no objections, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 4543 before the committee: HB 4543 (Rep. Mueller) A bill to amend 1973 PA 116, entitled "An act to provide for the protection of children through the licensing and regulation of child care organizations; to provide for the establishment of standards of care for child care organizations; to prescribe powers and duties of certain departments of this state and adoption facilitators; to provide penalties; and to repeal acts and parts of acts," (MCL 722.111 to 722.128) by adding section 3i. Representative Mike Mueller, the bill sponsor, explained HB 4543. Questions followed. A copy of his handout is attached. Shelly Schupback, a constituent of Representative Mueller, testified in support of HB 4543. Discussion followed. Seth Johnson, Executive Director for the United Way of Northwest Michigan, submitted a card and written testimony in opposition to HB 4543, but did not wish to speak. A question followed. Dr. Jena Colon, PT, DPT, Legislative Director for the American Physical Therapy Association of Michigan, testified in support of HB 4880. A question followed.
