   Representative Roth moved to adopt the meeting minutes from December 7, 2021. There being no objections, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid HB 5611 and HB 5612 before the committee: HB 5611 (Rep. Alexander) A bill to amend 1937 PA 94, entitled "Use tax act," by amending sections 4 and 21 (MCL 205.94 and 205.111), as amended by 2021 PA 109. HB 5612 (Rep. Alexander) A bill to amend 1933 PA 167, entitled "General sales tax act," by amending sections 4a and 25 (MCL 205.54a and 205.75), as amended by 2021 PA 108. Representatative Julie Alexander, the bill sponsor for HB 5611 and HB5 612, explained the bills. Questions and comments followed. Amy Zaagman, Executive Director for the Michigan Council for Maternal and Child Health testified and submitted written testimony in support of HB 5611 and HB 5612. Questions and discussion followed. Aaron Keel, Director of Legislative Affairs for the Michigan Department of Treasury, testified in opposition to HB 5611 and HB 5612. The following Individuals submitted a card in support of HB 5611 and HB 5612, but did not wish to speak: Rachel Richards, Fiscal Policy Director for the Michigan League for Public Policy; Robin Bozek, Executive Director for Michigan Head Start Association; Carlos Gutierrez, Vice President of State and Local Government Affairs for the Consumer Healthcare Products Association; Michelle Roberts, Executive Director for Disability Right Michigan; and Mary Pollock, Legislative Representative for the Michigan State Employee Retirees Association. Lacey Gero, Policy and Coalition Coordinator for the National Diaper Bank Network and Alliance for Period Supplies, submitted a card and written testimony in support of HB 5611 and HB 5612, but did not wish to speak. There being no further business before the committee; Representative Tisdill moved that the committee adjourn.
