- Representative Yaroch moved to adopt the meeting minutes from January 20, 2022. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair invited Tamela Lortz to talk about her experience losing a loved one to COVID-19 in a long-term care facility. The committee discussed the testimony. The Chair laid HB 5659 and HB 5660 before the committee: HB 5659 (Rep. Yaroch) A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled "Public health code," (MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding section 20158. HB 5660 (Rep. Yaroch) A bill to amend 1979 PA 218, entitled "Adult foster care facility licensing act," by amending section 11 (MCL 400.711), as amended by 2016 PA 525. The following person submitted a card in opposition to HB 5659 and HB 5660, but did not wish to speak: Rich Farran, representing the Health Care Association of Michigan. Representative Yaroch introduced the bills. Questions and discussion followed. There being no further business before the committee, Chair Steven Johnson adjourned the meeting at 11:52 AM.
