- Representative Brenda Carter moved to adopt the meeting minutes from March 18, 2021. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 447 before the committee: SB 447 (Sen. Lauwers) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," (MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3471. Senator Lauwers, joined by Christine Shearer and Diane Wolfenden, both representing the Michigan Association of Health Plans, all testified in support of SB 447. Questions and discussion followed. Dave Sokol, representing the Michigan Association of Health Underwriters, testified in support of SB 447. Questions and discussion followed. The following people submitted a card in support of SB 447, but did not wish to speak: Rory Lafferty, representing the Health Alliance Plan. The Chair laid SB 624 before the committee: SB 624 (Sen. Theis) A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled "The insurance code of 1956," by amending section 4072 (MCL 500.4072), as amended by 2003 PA 200. Frank Venuto, representing the American Council of Life Insurers, testified in support of SB 624. Questions and discussion followed.
