The Chair laid HB 4286 before the committee: HB 4286 (Rep. Johnson) A bill to amend 2016 PA 343, entitled "Wrongful imprisonment compensation act," by amending the title and section 6 (MCL 691.1756). Representative Johnson, Wolf Mueller and David Moran, both representing the Michigan Innocence Clinic, and Richard Phillips, an exoneree, testified in support of the bill. Questions and discussion followed. The Chair laid HB 4286 before the committee: HB 4286 (Rep. Johnson) A bill to amend 2016 PA 343, entitled "Wrongful imprisonment compensation act," by amending the title and section 6 (MCL 691.1756). Representative Hoadley offered the following amendment to HB 4286: 1. Amend page 3, following line 14, by inserting: "(C) THE NUMBER OF ACTIONS IN WHICH AN ORDER OR JUDGMENT HAS BEEN ENTERED DENYING THE CLAIM, AND THE REASONS FOR EACH DENIAL." and relettering the remaining subdivisions.
