HB 4705 (Rep. Hall) A bill to amend 1975 PA 238, entitled “Child protection law,” by amending section 8 (MCL 722.628), as amended by 2016 PA 491. HB 4706 (Rep. Schroeder) A bill to amend 1975 PA 238, entitled “Child protection law,” by amending section 8d (MCL 722.628d), as amended by 2014 PA 30. HB 4707 (Rep. Liberati) A bill to amend 1975 PA 238, entitled “Child protection law,” by amending section 8 (MCL 722.628), as amended by 2016 PA 491. HB 4708 (Rep. Meerman) A bill to amend 1975 PA 238, entitled “Child protection law," by amending section 8d (MCL 722.628d), as amended by 2014 PA 30. HB 4709 (Rep. LaGrand) A bill to amend 1975 PA 238, entitled “Child protection law,"(MCL 722.621 to 722.638) by adding section 9b. Yvonne Benn, C.P.A, Audit Manager in the Office of the Auditor General, and Leah M. Decker, C.P.A testified on the Children’s Protective Services Investigations, September 2018, 431-1285- 16, regarding HB 4704, HB 4705, HB 4706, HB 4707, HB 4708 and HB 4709. Questions and discussion followed. A copy of the report highlights is attached. Stacie Bladen, Deputy Director of the Children’s Services Agency in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and Colin Parks, Manager in the Child Protective Service and Family Preservation Program Office in the Bureau of Child Welfare in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, testified on of HB 4704, HB 4705, HB 4706, HB 4707, HB 4708 and HB 4709. Questions and discussion followed. Lisa McCormick, Children's Ombudsman, and Ryan Speidel Deputy Director, in the Office of Children’s Ombudsman in the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, testified on of HB 4704, HB 4705, HB 4706, HB 4707, HB 4708 and HB 4709. Questions and discussion followed. A copy of her written testimony is attached.
