The Chair laid HB 5044 before the committee: HB 5044 (Rep. Wendzel) A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled "The revised school code," (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1178b. Michele Eaddy, representing the Thrun Law Firm, testified in opposition to HB 5044. Questions and discussions followed. Olivia Ponte, Legislative Liaison for the Michigan Department of Education, Rebecca McIntyre, Assistant Director of the Michigan Department of Education & Amy Matthews, Director, Statewide Autism Resources and Training (START) Project, gave an overview presentation of the guidelines for ABA Therapy in schools.
