    Representative Glanville moved to adopt the meeting minutes from April 11, 2023. There being no objection, the motion prevailed by unanimous consent. The Chair laid SB 137 and SB 138 before the committee: SB 137 (Sen. Damoose) A bill to amend 2008 PA 260, entitled "Guardianship assistance act," by amending sections 5, 5a, 5b, and 6 (MCL 722.875, 722.875a, 722.875b, and 722.876), section 5 as amended by 2009 PA 15 and sections 5a, 5b, and 6 as amended by 2015 PA 227. SB 138 (Sen. Irwin) A bill to amend 2008 PA 260, entitled "Guardianship assistance act," by amending sections 2, 3, and 4 (MCL 722.872, 722.873, and 722.874), section 2 as amended by 2022 PA 210, section 3 as amended by 2015 PA 227, and section 4 as amended by 2019 PA 95. Senators Irwin and Damoose testified in support of SB 137 and SB 138. Lorna Elliott-Egan representing the Director of Tribal Government Services and Policy at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services testified in support of SB 137 and SB 138. Questions and discussion followed. Jamie Stuck representing the Chairman of the Huron Band of the Potawatomi testified in support of SB 137 and SB 138. Whitney Gravelle representing the Bay Mills Indian Community testified in support of SB 137 and SB 138. Judge Jocelyn Fabry representing the Chief Judge of the Sault St Marie Tribe of the Chippewa Indians Tribal Court testified in support of SB 137 and SB 138. Questions and discussion followed.
