- “Mr. Speaker and members of the House: While I am absolutely sympathetic to the need of first responders to do their job, the legislation before us fails to protect people’s constitutionally protected activities, most notably the right to monitor and record a public official. I am fully open to a policy that provides first responders with appropriate protections while also protecting people’s individual rights.” Rep. Posthumus moved that House Bill No. 5815 be placed on its immediate passage. The motion prevailed, a majority of the members serving voting therefor. House Bill No. 5815, entitled A bill to amend 1969 PA 306, entitled “Administrative procedures act of 1969,” by amending section 61 (MCL 24.261), as amended by 1982 PA 413.
