- The question being on the passage of the bill, Senator Runestad offered the following amendments: 1. Amend page 2, following line 5, by inserting: “ Sec. 201j. (1) Not less than 30 days after the effective date of the amendatory act that added this section, each community college that receives an appropriation in section 201 must certify to the state budget director that the community college is committed to cooperating with federal immigration officials and that the community college is not a sanctuary campus. (2) If a community college fails to provide certification under subsection (1), the state budget director must withhold that community college’s monthly installment described in section 206 until the community college provides certification. ”. 2. Amend page 2, following line 9, by inserting: “ Sec. 236t. (1) Not less than 30 days after the effective date of the amendatory act that added this section, each public university that receives an appropriation in section 236 must certify to the state budget director that the university is committed to cooperating with federal immigration officials and that the university is not a sanctuary campus. (2) If a public university fails to provide certification under subsection (1), the state budget director must withhold that public university’s monthly installment described in section 241 until the public university provides certification. ”.
