- In The Chair: Pohutsky The House agreed to the title of the bill. Rep. Aiyash moved that the bill be given immediate effect. The motion prevailed, 2/3 of the members serving voting therefor. Reps. Aiyash, Andrews, Arbit, Bezotte, Brixie, Churches, Coleman, Dievendorf, Edwards, Grant, Haadsma, Hill, Koleszar, Liberati, McFall, Mentzer, Miller, Morgan, Mueller, O’Neal, Pohutsky, Price, Puri, Scott, Shannon, Snyder, Wegela, Weiss, Whitsett, Witwer, and Young were named co-sponsors of the bill. Rep. Bierlein, having reserved the right to explain his protest against the passage of the bill, made the following statement: “Mr. Speaker and members of the House: While I could vote no strictly on the process of voting on bills without being on the agenda, or having a substitute introduced that was just brought to our attention less than an hour before the vote, today, I am voting no because this bill does so little to help the majority of Michigan residents who will deal with the horrible disease that is Cancer. This bill will only effect 1% of the insured residents of Michigan, and that is not enough.” House Bill No. 4120, entitled A bill to amend 1975 PA 238, entitled “Child protection law,” (MCL 722.621 to 722.638) by adding section 3b.
