- Rep. Cynthia Johnson, having reserved the right to explain her protest against the passage of the bill, made the following statement: “Mr. Speaker and members of the House: Based on the Rep. from the 86th district’s speech on this bill, he said, in part, when you see wrong and don’t do anything about it, you will have to account to God. Because I realize that my Reparation bills will likely not be given a chance to be heard or voted on. HB 5558 imposes its will on women, yet the Reparation legislation’s purpose is to right wrongs.” House Bill No. 5559, entitled A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled “The code of criminal procedure,” by amending section 13k of chapter XVII (MCL 777.13k), as amended by 2018 PA 587. Was read a third time and passed, a majority of the members serving voting therefor, by yeas and nays, as follows:
